HDI Air Pak’s all-in-one performance conquers extreme jobsite demands
Repairs in the mines mean hauling around multiple machines to get the job done: one for welding, another for compressed air and a third for power. The HDI Air Pak significantly simplified Dobbs’ operations. Its hydraulically driven, all-in-one design eliminates the need for separate compressors and welders, saving up to 400 pounds in weight on the work truck and reducing the equipment footprint by 54%. In addition, less gear means more valuable truck space to accommodate other essential tools and parts needed to complete tasks more easily. This results in fewer trips, faster setups and more efficient repairs, even in extreme weather.
Because of the constant sand exposure at the mine, weather resilience is key, and the HDI Air Pak is built for environments just like it. Its integrated and compact design is ideal for extreme environments — heat and cold, as well as remote and rugged environments. Designed with industry-leading technologies and weld quality, its reliability across harsh conditions ensures Dobbs can perform repairs without delay.
What really impressed Dobbs was the all-in-one performance the HDI Air Pak offers. Up to 325 amps of multiprocess welding power — including MIG, TIG, stick and air carbon arc gouging — at a 100% duty cycle, plus 40 or 60 cfm of air for uninterrupted tool use, meant fewer machines and more capability. Add 150 amps for battery charging, 300 amps for crank assist, and a 7,000-watt generator for auxiliary power, and Dobbs’ technicians can handle electrical issues on-site without delay, no extra equipment required.
“Being able to keep the truck running all day without worrying about running out of fuel in a standalone air compressor or generator makes all the difference in the world — endless air supply, constant use — it’s wonderful,” said Justin, a Dobbs service technician. “The HDI Air Pak unit is immediate, it’s consistent, there’s no delay and it performs well under many conditions. Overall, it provides a better end result.”
Simplified operation was another standout. A single digital panel controls all functions, reducing training time and setup complexity — especially helpful for newer techs. And with Auto-Set™ technology, Dobbs can count on consistent weld quality with fewer errors. Features like toolless maintenance and CAN bus connectivity also streamline service and fleet tracking, helping technicians stay efficient and reducing downtime across the board.
When considering safety, modular remote panels help reduce slip and fall risks by eliminating the need to climb into truck beds. This not only protects technicians but also helps maintain productivity by preventing avoidable injuries.
