Contractor Decreases Fuel Costs 20% with Miller® Welder/Generator

Image description

InterCon Construction, like many contractors in the utility and construction industries, was looking for ways to be more cost and labor efficient. To gain more fuel efficiency, the Wisconsin-based contractor transitioned to Miller® Trailblazer® 325 gasoline welder/generators with Excel™ power and electronic fuel injection (EFI) for their field trucks. The switch saved InterCon 20 percent in fuel costs and added as much as four to five hours of productivity each month by reducing trips to the fuel pump.

Induction Heating Fits a Wide Range of Applications

Preheating and heat treatment for stress relief of parts are important steps in the welding process. However, it can prove challenging since different applications require different heat inputs — from preheat to post–weld heat treatment — and parts can range in size and shape and may be located in the field or in the shop. The ProHeat™ 35 Induction System offers flexibility to meet a wide range of heating requirements in welding applications, since the system can be used with liquid-cooled cables, air-cooled blankets and rolling induction heating.

Hobart Offers New Low Manganese Metal-Cored Wire

Finding filler metals to help maintain a clean, compliant work environment is important. To help, Hobart has expanded its FabCOR® Element™ family of low manganese wires to include a new metal-cored wire — the FabCOR Element 70C6. Extensive testing shows the wire features among the lowest manganese emissions of similarly classified American Welding Society (AWS) A5.18 E70C-6 wires. In addition, the new wire offers the benefits associated with other Hobart metal-cored wires, including increased deposition rates that result in faster travel speeds and greater productivity.
