Project Submitted: 8/7/2013
Project Description:
hand bent unpainted metal rose
Build Process:
cut 4-5 layers of petals and 3-4 leaves out of sheet metal with plasma cutter as well as 1/4 inch rod cut at about 1 ft. length. then drill 1/4 inch hole in the center of each layer of petals. slide first layer of pedals on to rod about 1/4 inch from the end of the rod mig or tig tack to the rod on both top and bottom. then slide the next layer of pedals and tack bottom alternating petal direction ... do the same for the next few layers (layer amount goes by your preference as well as the amount of leaves) when you r finished tacking the pedals, use an OFW torch (welding tip or a rose bud) to heat the first layer.bend to artistic preference repeat for each layer then cool in water. proceed with leaves add as many as u wish i suggest 3-4 ... mig or tig tack them on the rod under the rose you have just formed then heat and bend those to your artistic preference as well, when finished with that cool in water again and clean with high pressured air. allow the metal to cool and dry completely then spry with "rustoleum paint" to protect it!!
