Steel Lily lawn ornaments
These Lilies are made with 3/16 mild steel plate for the pedals. Each pedal is cut out by had with a 4 1/2" cut off wheel then the mill scale surface is ground of with a 60grit sanding disc wheel. Once each pedal is done being smoothed down and surfaced then I hand bend them to desired realistic shape with a torch and pliers. I then do the same for the leaf pedals. Once the pedals are made I then use a 17" piece of rebar for the steam and weld a nut on the top so then I can weld on the center pieces which are 3/32 filler rods with old greese fittings welded on the ends. After all that is complete I then proceed to clean up the pedals from tool marks from bending and shaping with an 80grit sanding disc. Once the pedals are finished being cleaned up I then weld them to the stem. I then heat the base of the pedals to give them there color and once cooled down they get three coats of clear coat for outdoor/indoor use.
