Built a small pontoon boat for fishing lakes and ponds. The boat is all hand built from Aluminum. The boat is 12'x72" and was built as a prototype for my company Folded Wing Outdoors. This was a very fun project and I was able to get Coast Guard Approved in the process!
Using a slip roller I rolled 3' sections to form the pontoon logs. I hand formed an end cap with the English wheel. I hand formed the nose cone and TIG welded the pontoons together. Once welded I pressure tested and fixed any leaks. Next I built the deck frame out of 2" square tubing and welded it together with AlumaPro gun and XRD control powerd through a Miller Invision 456P. Using an alignment frame, I welded the deck frame to the pontoons. Next marine grade plywood decking was added. I built the hand rails out of 1" aluminum tubing using my Mittler Bros. tubing bender. The finishing touch was adding a marine grade linoleum to look like a teak wood deck.
