Chandler Equipment Gains Unexpected Benefits from Fume Extractors, Years After Installation

Image description

Chandler Equipment, a manufacturer of liquid transportation components, needed a remedy to reduce weld fume levels in their plant. Since implementing Miller® FILTAIR® centralized systems two years ago, the company has seen a significant reduction in weld fume, experienced production increases and reduced maintenance activities — and they haven't had to change the systems' filters even once. They now consider the FILTAIR systems among the lowest maintenance items they have in their shop.

Break Through Bottlenecks

Breaking through the Bottlenecks: Going Lean in the Welding Operation

Lean initiatives provide the insight to resolve inefficiencies, establishing best practices and driving continuous improvement through every aspect of a fabrication or manufacturing business. When implemented correctly, lean practices in the welding operation can help companies expand their capacity without expanding their facility or workforce. In many cases, they can also help companies grow margin contributions, and gain greater competencies to increase profits and competitiveness.

Electroslag strip cladding video

Electroslag Strip Cladding Offers Productivity and Cost Benefits

Submerged arc strip cladding (SASC) and electroslag strip cladding (ESSC) are similar processes, but technological advancements have made ESSC a more attractive alternative. ESSC reduces the dilution rate of base material into the weld, offers greater deposition rates and increases travel speed to lower welding time and improve productivity — important benefits to manufacturing, fabrication, oil and gas, pressure vessel and petrochemical applications.

Remote control welding

Accessing the Advantages of Remote Control Welding Technology

Efficiency, safety and profitability are important to any welding operation. In addition to general best practices and operator training, there are equipment advancements that can help meet quality and production goals, while also helping keep welding operators safer on the job. Remote control welding technology, for example, allows welding operators to set parameters at the weld joint without the need to carry, route, troubleshoot and maintain expensive control cables — all while delivering consistent welding performance.

Miller Recommends Hobart

Flux-Cored Wire Provides Excellent Low-Temperature Toughness for Critical Applications

Flux-Cored Wire

The new FabCO® 812-Ni1M wire from Hobart has been formulated to provide excellent low-temperature impact toughness to help reduce the risk of cracking in critical applications. Low diffusible hydrogen levels further mitigate the risk of cracking and can reduce preheat requirements to minimize downtime for weld preparation. This gas-shielded low-alloy wire consistently maintains good mechanical properties in the as-welded condition and after post-weld stress relief.
