Save Money On Utilities

How Much Extra Money Are You Paying To Your Utility Company? Considering saving money on a utility bill may seem insignificant and not worth your time. However, with energy costs climbing, wasted electricity can add up to big numbers. You’re familiar with energy efficient light bulbs, furnaces, water heaters, and refrigerators, but have you thought about energy efficient welding equipment? Imagine reducing your monthly bill by hundreds (which adds up to a nice annual savings) or perhaps receiving a rebate check from your local utility company for making better use of your power. When companies are in the market to purchase welding equipment, they have many factors to consider…cost, arc quality, reliability, output, etc. But many companies do not consider how much input power is required to run the welder. This number varies significantly by brand. Some machines may need just 16.97 KW of input power to weld at specific amperage, where others require 21.43. This difference means you are paying the utility company for 4.46 KW of wasted line power. Depending on the number of machines you run per shift, and the number of shifts you run per day, this calculation can add up fast. Do you know how much input power your welding machines require? What about idle power? Did you know that your older welders may still be drawing a significant amount of power while they are running idle? Also, do they have cooling fans that run non-stop? Newer machines can reduce this power demand and significantly decrease your electric bill…and improve your bottom line. Let me know what you think. Post your comments.
