I agree I would use 7018 but I haven't seen anything mentioned about rod diameter, I would use some 3/32 with some preheat if your doing it in the cold, for jobs like that it's sweet

I've been taught to use DCEP (reverse polarity) for stick. DO you have that option on the Thunderbolt?Matt Adams A&P, IA

if you dont have the option of polarity switch the leads.
