    Default Aws A53 A5.1 870xx

    Does this mean anything to anyone? I was asked at work today what to weld this type of material/joint with. From what i could come up with 7018 or 8018 would suffice, am I correct? hanks. Dave

    I did a bit of digging and came up with AWS A53-96 reffering to steel pipe (welded / seamless, black or coated) specifications. A5.1 reffered to coated electrode specs. As for the 870XX, I am not famillar with that designation, nor could I find any info about it. It could mean 80XX or 70XX, however I'm guessing at this point.
