The Tombstone

WE went to HOme Depot today, they had some heavy duty shelves on sale, so I bought 6 sets of them.

I looked around and found their welding stuff, they had the old reliable Tombstone there, it was priced $269.00 for it. Except they sold out of them because of Christmas, the floor model was the only one left and they said they wouldn't sell it.

I walked into a SEARS store and they have the AC/DC version of the Tombstone.

Not having a stick welder and perhaps wanting to add one, I may opt for this one. I think it was going for about $369.00. I have a " use you credit card and get 10% off " coupon, just waiting for them to put it on sale and maybe with any luck get it for under $300.00

Those deals go by faster than a dove on the last day of the season! I missed this one on Craig's List by just a few minutes:

$125. I have a Hobart Handler 140 Mig Welder complete with Cart, bottle, hose/regulator and flux core wire. This unit runs off of standard 110v house current, it is a used unit with plenty of life left in it. Will be glad to let you try it out.

I was sick! I'll be faster next time.

The price at Home Depot is the everyday price. The used welders I have bought in the past, I buy thru my dealer. If it craps out, they fix it. When I am done with that unit or that type of work, I sell the welder. But that has only happen twice so far.

I still like the Tombstone at $269.00.

I got one had it for years ...also have a thunderbolt in the same class (both AC only) IMO the miller is a better machine. I never use either of them anymore and have been thinking 'bout selling them both...what do you guys reckon I should ask for them?

They weld ok for what they are... just got used to way better welders.

A tombstone is used by me all the time. I have an AC/DC tombstone too but seldom use it. I just tig weld as I need too. I think they are decades old. Just put 3 $100 bills in your wallet so if you see a tombstone you want you will be ready.

do you have any help on my dynasty 200 dx tryng to figure out the bells and whilistles / P&H /syncrowave 250 and 180 now a dyn200 dx/ every time i change welders i wan't to go back to the last one/ pat

You know I miss having my Tombstone around, I spotted one up for sale. The guy wanted $125 for it, but then said $100, so I bought it. It works great.

Maybe you should just throw that ole Dynasty my way. Seriously, from what I understand, the Dyn has a standard setup to give you a starting point. And the video that comes with it is supposed to be a lot of help. Good luck!

Keep you eyes and ears open. Really good deals come along a lot more than I thought. I got a large C02 bottle for $25, another place had 2 Oxygen Bottles for $20 bucks. These are ones that were still in date.

I find store brand and some name brand welder at 2nd hand stores. Some of them you have to know what they are or who actually made them.

There was a guy trying to sell me a Miller MIG still in the box for some really cheap price, I passed on it. I was afraid it fell off the truck or something like that and when I would register it, I would be told it was stolen.

There are deals out there.
