I have a Miller Syncrowave 250 (serial number KF925533) that I bought new back in 1995. It's worked well throughout the years, but I am now having a problem with the amperage control. When using tig negative or stick DC current, it starts out around 100 amps regardless of how low I set the amperage control knob -- at least, I'm guessing it's around there because my welder does not have an amp meter on the panel.
That being said, everything else works alright. I can go to higher amperage just fine, but I can't go to low amperage.
I tried calling the Miller tech support line, and the tech said to check the hall device. Does anyone know how to check it? I would like to know what other people think the issue might be.
