    Default Millermatic 180 Stops Feeding

I have a Millermatic 180 that when welding thin material, after about 5 seconds, the welder will almost stop feeding wire, then catch up. When welding thicker material (greater than 3/16"), after about 5 seconds, the welder will completely stop feeding wire. I have to release the trigger and then pull the trigger again, then 5 seconds later the same thing happens. It does this the whole time I am welding, so I know it is not an issue with it getting too hot and shutting down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Assuming not a board problem:

    The usual suspects
    Feed roll tension
Feed roll wire tangled when unwinding
Tension adjusted correctly at drive roll
Correct drive roll for size and type of wire
    Liner not dirty
    Tip in good condition

    Hobart AC/DC Stickmate
    Older Sears AC Stick machine

Wayne is on it, check all of that. Also, I have seen guys load spools the wrong direction, the wire should be coming off the roll on the bottom of the spool so it goes relatively straight into the feed rolls.

    How old is the machine?
