    Default bobcat225 with spoolgun

My ? To anyone whos used one of these setups.
    Wc115a & 30a or
    3035 & sga100c

How well are the quality of welds produced from an engine driven welder coupled with a spool gun.
Ive search for pictures and came up empty.
On my 211 I can produce high quality welds. But unsure I could do the same with the bobcat. how well do you guys dial in the voltage/amperage. With out gauges.
The reason I need this setup is because i sometimes repair reefer floors and packing the 211 in and out.
Is hard and time consuming. While the spool gun would get me in and out faster.

Is it really worth the money spend or should I continue using my 211 setup

I have the results of a WC-1 and Spoolmatic 1 powered off my Bobcat 225G Plus. I'm sure the results would be similar using one of the combinations you listed.

I would add that the best set up includes a contactor or you'll just have to pull the gun away when you let off on the trigger. Otherwise the arc will follow the wire back to the tip welding the wire to it. I addressed the issue by equipping my Bobcat with a local/remote contactor.

Sga100c pictured. This one does have the contactor right?
I also found the 3035 spoolgun with 20' cord. and a 25' extension online which should meet my needs for under $800

Yes, the unit pictured has the optional contactor which is located in the enclosure on top of the SGA-100 controller.

So if I understand this correctly, the Bobcat is the power source, the little box controls the amps and starts/stops the arc, and the spool gun is the "feeder."

In a portable setup, is there a particular advantage to this over powering a wire welder with the Bobcat? Whatever the material. I understand you need the spool gun for aluminum. Is this just a case for improved mobility and convenience?

Longer reach without the weight of an extra mchine attached to the bobcat .
Im doing it for the quick use of mig portability. And weight over my miller 211 on jobs away grom the shop. The only downsides would be the smaller spools but not a problem.overall.
