Can anyone explain how to get an accurate amperage reading off a new Millermatic 350P? We've put an amprobe around the lead while the welder is welding, we've used volt/amp meter at the terminals and same issue. We're getting readings from 20-50 amps and we know that just isn't the case. Are there some sort of power factors or multipliers we are supposed to be using? For FCAW we should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-230A at least. ?? Any suggestions on what we're doing wrong?

You can just use the 350p
"AMPS illuminates indicating welding amps appears in the display, instead of wire speed, during welding and for 5 seconds after the arc is extinguished."

-Push the setup number on the right side of the front panel until the timer light is on.
-Rotate the left control knob until the left meter reads DISP (Short for Display)
-Rotate the right control knob until the right meter reads AMPS
-Push setup button to return meters back to weld mode.
The next time you make a weld the right meter will display the average welding amperage and will hold that display for 5 seconds after the weld has stopped.
