    Default Welding Steel Rims

A customer brought in two rims to be split and the dish extended. My welder told me last one he did he used 7018 and it started to crack after use. Does anyone have experience with this? Recommend what rod to use?

    Thanks for your help!

I have done a pair with bare wire mig with no issues. I would think 7018 would be fine as long as the prep is good.

Dingus, this is probably old news to you, but seeing the post made me think of it.

I know it has nothing to do with welding a rim like your doing and I'm sure most have already seen it.

But thought I would drop it in for those who may have not since the post

title kinds of leads to the subject and you already have good answers.
