    Default Radnor E3's

Went to the LWS to get some 2% Lanthanated and they didn't have any but the guy showed me some E3's from Radnor...supposed to be good for both AC & DC...AWS Spec. A5.12M/A5.12:2009...AWS Class EWG...Color Code: Purple...Chemical Specs:98.34% W + 1.5% La2O3 + .08% ZrO2 + .08% Y2O2...they are non radioactive and claim a longer life....anyone ever use them? Here's a website for um... www.e3tungsten.com

Been using 3/32 E3, OKI Bering brand for a couple of weeks in a WP17 torch @ 162 amps AC on aluminum. Compared to ceriated it forms a more stable ball and spits a lot less owing to that. Costs me about seven bucks more per 10-pack at the LWS.

Haven't tried it on steel yet.

Conventional chinese triple mix or "Rare Earth Blend". Diamond ground products makes the best "TriMix" but the prices are out of this world.

    1.5% lanthanum
    .08% zirconium oxide
    .08% yttruim

Save your money and buy 2% lanthanated. Great on alum, but not quite as good as thoriated on steel.

HTP usaweld has the best prices for tungstens. Other than NOS off epay.

I don't have a set-up to do aluminum...all steel...I had heard that the lanthanated was better than the thoriated on steel....I ended up picking up a pack of the E3's cause I needed to finish something...the tip lasted a lot longer than the ceriated I've used and I'm just startin out so you can imagine how many times the tip hits the steel...The only tungsten I've used is the one that came with the Multimatic 200 Tig kit which I believe is ceriated

Ceriated is pretty good on alum. Much better than thoriated. I find the opposite with steel.

So far I have found no wonder tungsten. Some day perhaps they will take away thoriated, which is why I have several hundred in reserve.
