I borrowed a friends legend aead 200 le to do some repairs on an excavator bucket. While running some rather large hard facing rods the arc became very weak, and started stuttering.![]()
So I switched to an 1/8 rod same result.
And I could have sworn I heard something snap when it went out, but hard to tell under the helmet.
I was definitely leaning too hard on the welder when this happened,
I need to get this fixed.Where to look first?

Find a new friend. Sorry I am not welder repair savvy. Does it idle up and down at all?

Well, it sounds like one or more of your diodes in the rectifier pack is pooched

That multimeter will work as long as you can check ohms. U will only get continuity one way through it.

Is this SR1 on the schematic for this machine?
*UPDATE*
I have located and ordered a new rectifier, that being said I am wondering what caused this?
I did clean the rings and inspect the brushes, two were stuck in the holders.

Age and use causes it, likely 1 or more puck dides were trashed, then one by one the rest are over loaded.
