good little home welders

I was wondering what a good little home welder would be? I really enjoy stick welding and dont get to weld stick alot so iwas looking and those lincoln stick welders i think there were or are called cracker jack boxes or something lol...but i knwo this is a miller sight but just want info about them, if there miller versions feel free to let me know about them to.

Go find yourseld a used buzz box off of Craigslist in whatever brand suits your fancy. Those old transformer machines are well nigh indestructable, so if they work when you go to look at them before buying they can usually be depended upon to work for your grandkids. Try for a AC/DC version, but they will go for around twice as much as a AC only version. Note that you will probably have to run a circuit for the welder as they are somewhat power hungry to operate.

Pawn shops are full of small stick welders AC, AC/DC, red, blue and gray ones. CL and even Facebook has them. I have an older Thunderbolt AC/DC and love it....Bob

You definitely want an ac/dc unit. Don't settle for an ac only machine. Lincoln has the ac/dc 225/125, Miller has the Thunderbolt & Hobart the stickmate. All good. Make sure it works before you buy it & again make sure it is not an ac only machine. They need a 240v 50 amp outlet.

Where are you located? I have a Lincoln AC/DC tombstone sitting in my garage collecting tremendous amounts of dust, that works beautifully. Its looking for a good home. I am just south of Detroit, MI.
