Can these be wired to only'120v? I can't find my freaking multi meter to probe it. Going to borrow one in a couple days and then check. I just want to make sure before I go off and make an adapter from the 6-50p that is on my welder.

The shop is 10 miles out of town and I'm in town right now. I was just trying to avoid driving out there to double check the voltage to the plug before I go back to town to make an adapter for my welder that has a 6-50p on the end of it. There is a large 5th wheel plugged into it right now and I just wanted to check to make sure that these plugs are always 230v. Otherwise I'll need to find another place to plug in my equipment for the next month or two.

Yes, it will be wired for 240 There are 120V rv plugs but they are different. That should make an ideal circuit to plug in a welding machine.

Wired up an adapter tonight. The local ace had a wall mount 6-50r and a 6 ft 50 amp range pigtail with 6 ga wire and a 14-50p on the end of it. Cost me under $40 for the setup. My plasma and welder had 6-50p ends and now I can use any 14-50r I come across. Not too shabby!

Yup- the 14-50 are 120v/240v




You already made the adapter but Miler and Hobart sell them also because some of the Engine drives have a 14-50 receptacle on them.
