You can weld aluminum with the VS if you have CV. It will take a new alu liner for your gun,proper sized drive rolls, alum. tips to fit the wire and I recomend 035 or 3/64 al 5356 because it is stiffer, Keep you gun as straight as possible and push your welds.

If you have an HF adapter for your AEAD then you can tig weld on AC. Use a gas valved tig torch, 12 footer if possible, shield the weld area and remember aluminum likes a hot start to create the puddle other wise you heat will sink into the plate and your weld will not puddle.

This is the original thread, it was established in the first reply that he did not have cv. My response is to let him and others know that they will work on CV with the proper accessories. They are CC/CV feeders.

Sorry never saw that one. Still i was just trying to explaine that is is possible to mig weld alum. with a mig gun and a cv powered wire feeder.

I found a ranger 305 d for sale but its only a dc machine. Can I use the an aluminum spoolgun with this machine? It is a cc/cv machine. Help me out people plz.
