20% if your confident in your estimate 30% if there is a gray area 50% if you did a drive by estimate and never slowed down.

It depends on if you are buying your steel in quantity 5-10,000 lbs. where your bigger fab shops are buying theirs or are you buying from the next tier down that is a small company.
You have to have an idea what your competition is selling their steel for.
For years I bought from the second tier and bought as I needed so I was not getting the best deal and now I buy from the same company that they buy it from so I save about .10 - .20 cents a lb. but I keep an inventory and buy 5-10,000 lbs. at a time.
