G is for grind and the / is the finish profile FLAT, these are weld Finish symbols

Its telling you to fill weld completely around. And grind flat.

That's neat. I am a general contractor and welding is more of a hobby to me. I am around prints daily but never get to see anything welding related. What other symbols are used in the welding world?

contour symbols
G = grind, R = Roll, M = machine, and I believe C = chipping, its just the way you achieve the flush contour

Hobart has a great packet on symbols. Cost is just over $20.00.
