Not sure the proper procedure for checking for 240 volts on the 2 legs with my multimeter, I could use a little instruction.... thanks!

Often your probes won't go all the way into the wall receptacle, so what I do is stick the machine plug in part way, and very carefully meter those plug pins in Volts AC

Check from each leg to neutral (115vac each) the check across the blades for 230vac.
