I really need a camping BBQ grill as we go camping every two weeks or so.
I took a peek at all the BBQ places around here and they wanted $200.00 for a stainless steel one.
I had some stainless steel sitting around so I decided to make my own.
A few hours later presto a solid stainless steel BBQ grill ready for camping this weekend.
I have to put some handles on it but that can wait till next week.
This grill will be placed on top of four rocks or coke cans.

I started making some lifter/poker tool.
We don't have this style of tool over here but seems easy to make.
Not sure on length but will make sure my hand is away from the fire.

Looks good, they are general about 2.5 ft about length of you arm. I have one that came with a grill at about 2 ft, its a little short at times.
Edit: just looked it up, a foot is about 30.5cm. So 2.5 ft is about 75cmLast edited by wrench3047; 08-23-2012 at 02:01 PM.

Looks good. I have some of that perforated material too. It's not stainless but I'm saving it for something cool.

I made some tent pegs that will be driven into the ground before the fire is made.
Then once the fire is running I can place the grill over the top.
The small dowels I welded on top should lock the grill and the pegs all together.
I finished the lifting tool off with a handle.
Now we are ready for BBQing this weekend.Grip it and Rip it

Nice job.
I'm curious to see whether the heat of the campfire will cause the stainless steel to get carbide precipitation and rust ... please let us know if it rusts after a few uses.
I might have to make one of those.
