    Default Pig Spit

I want to build myself a pig spit and I have done a bit of digging to find different ideas. Was wondering what you guys had to share? Thanks.

Are you thinking pit, moble tank style or open moble design? My brother built one on a trailer. He used a 400 gal oil tank, cleaned out of course, built the spit with a square socket on the end so the electric drive part can be slid into place when needed. It uses the lower section to hold the coals, its cut down some to feed fire and view hog from a crouch. The top section, hinged, stays down during the cook if you don't mop or spray hog. I haven't been part of or enjoyed a cook (needed repair / mods when I was there), but got a small demo of moving parts and I liked it.
