After spending way too much time with customer service, nice people if its in a book they'd most likely be able to help you. My question was not in any book. The nice man at tec says their are other differences in the welders other than the plugs, a breaker or other internal overload protection is one of them. This is the reason they don't want to sell the plugs and newer cord for an older machine. However he said if you wanted to do this at your own risk it should be ok ( wink..wink..) 230v 20 amp breaker. Thanks for the help maybe this will help others.
