    Default Car Seat Repair

The back tilt mechanism on the seat in my wife’s car failed about 5 years ago. I bought a junk yard seat mechanism and replaced it about 5 years ago. Well it failed again so this time I decided to make a new shaft and weld the existing spline on the end of it to save the $250 cost of a new seat. I kept the weld slightly below the surface so it wouldn’t interfere with the spring. In the process of working on the seat I discovered that the seat frame was also cracked so I fixed it as well. The following pictures document the repair.
