I'm 17 years old and I'm currently in a welding class provided by a local college. This Friday we're heading down to a regional welding contest put on by an organization called Skills USA. In the competition we're supposed to be doing a butt joint with a 1/8" gap on 1/8" material with MIG. I have more experience with MIG than stick, but I haven't done anything with wire feed other than projects so I'm lost as to what technique to use on this. I tried a slight weave but the bead came out a little wider than what is called for according to my instructor.
