Need engine q's answered help..

I have a 1985 bluestar 2e with (16 hp tecumseh that is gone) Any body tell me what the numbers are so I can find out how to replace it or is there a cheaper alternative engine that I could use because word is the old school tecumseh packs a hefty pricetag. what would I even begin to google? what about the shaft and automatic idle etc etc. Im a newbie to all of this so please keep that in mind. thanx for any help.

I have buddy with a 2E, about 1985. I will get the code numbers from his engine Sunday and send them to you.
