James..... thanks for the advice.... I did a total of about 20 min. with it on some s/s with no filler then some 1/8 mild steel using filler... I think it went really well....not to pat my own back ,but I feel very comfortable with it now... at first I was intimidated.... the biggest issue I had was I was hungover and had a little shake....it also helped to have rocketer watching and showing me stuff as well as using his sinc. 200 ... man that is a nice machine.

yep the syncro 200 looks like a realy nice welder. wish i could have powerd one. i had to get a TA-185 insted, but i'm real happy with it just the same. and i gave it a nice blue cover so the Miller stuff wouldnt pick on it.

Saw the Miller bike at last year's tent sale. I was told that Paul Junior did the tig welding on the front part of the frame area. LOOKS like he can weld, but when you see the actual bike, he should have let Vinny do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHA yea but just so everyone doesn't think I'm a total moron.. since this post started i have taken and completed the welding technologies program here in NC and made the deans list every semester(sorry guys i had to toot my own horn .lol). as well as got my mig plate cert. and i now work full time as a welder/fabricator working with 99.9% tig on stainless.

bet it seems strange to see your question now.
i'm just taking a guess but you don't use C-25 to tig any more do ya.

TIG can be frustrating to learn, but if you stick with it in time you will really enjoy it. just keep the practice time short enough to stay fun. if it gets too frustrating do some thing else for a wile and come back to it later.

before long the little coupons will really get boring and you wont want to do it any more. find a simple project to do instead. so what if it turns out bad, its more fun than a lil piece of flat steel and you will learn more from it also. keep it around to remind you later how far you have come.after all we all need a laugh once in a wile. i'll bet rocketeir is thinking its funny to see such a silly question now. but at the time it was a big concern. TIG takes time, don't try to rush it. and don't give up on it. some day you will be really glad you stuck it out and learned to TIG . sounds like you are lucky to have rocketeir close enough to help you out. seeing is a big help, books just cant really explain it the way seeing it can.

and no i dont use the 25/75 for tig...lmao.. i use that for mig.. i use straight argon for tig... yea if i knew then what i knew now i wouldnt have wasted all you guys time on here..
but yea mike did a lot better than i did the first time... so wether it my lens was dirty or the fumes got to me you will still be fine with a little practice. not everyone can do half as good as you did right off the bat.. if you dont belive me go to any welding school and look in their welding scrap bin where all the good and bad coupons that have been welded are heaped up... only bad thing about learing from a person rather than a teacher is my quirks and such...the first one that comes to mind is tungston... most teachers and welders will tell you use pure for alum and 2% thorated for steel and SSteel.. i personaly like cerated... i use it for SSteel, alum, carbon, magnes.. you name it.. of course i use a clean peice when i change metals..lol but you get the picture..

did you see the episode where he barowed a stick welder to fix he trailer. looked like a porcupine with all the stuck sticks. i'll bet Vinny was LHAO when he saw the show.

the first one that comes to mind is tungston... most teachers and welders will tell you use pure for alum and 2% thorated for steel and SSteel.. i personally like cerated... i use it for SSteel, alum, carbon, magnes.. you name it.. of course i use a clean piece when i change metals..lol but you get the picture..
no problem there i use 2% lanthanated for every thing and many also use cerated for every thing too. mostly on inverters but its getting more and more common to see people with transformers switching to them for the added benefits. its just old school VS new school thing. if the tung. works for ya thats great, he can try a few kinds and decide what will work best for him on his welder. the new tungstens have some advantages over the old standards, just a question of weather you want to take advantage of it or not. as i have an inverter i went strait to the cerated and lanthanated to see what i liked the best. and 2% lanth. was what worked and felt best for me.
