My son was invited to a mates birthday party the other day.
This lad is hard to buy for as he collects old Asian swords, in fact he gave my boy a sword for his birthday.
After much thinking we descided to make him a shirikin.
I rang our local S/S supplier but they wanted to much so we had a chat with a scrapy and he gave us the piece we required.
4" x 4" x 1/8" plate.
I drew the design up in CAD and the print out was glued to the metal.
We then drilled out the centre and the anti crack holes.
A very thin grinding blade cut out the shape.
And we employed an air belt sander to sharpen the edges.
A few hours work but very happy with the result.
My son's mate loved it.

Hi countryboy281,
Thanks for the kind words.
We were very pleased with it, so much so we nearly went down to the shops and bought him a present.
Sense prevailed and he did get it.
After all we still have the pattern.
Yeah there are some great thinkers and even better doers on this site.
login on here is better than buy a magazine on the subject.
Keep well

Careful boys and girls. Here in the states, some consider this illegal for possession. Cool project and awesome result none the less!

Nice job. Isn't it funny how the skills we develop for work can come in so handy for fun stuff, too?
Professional firefighter (retired). Amateur everything else I try to do...
Oh yeah: GO BIG RED!

Thanks for the kind words chaps.
When you have learnt how to work metal there is not much we can not make or fix.
Very satisfying.
