Not to mention that one is ferrous and the other is non ferrous. I'd use a drill and bolts.

you can solder or braze to connect different metals together. aladen has an aluminum brazing rod thats supposed to do a good job of that. but you cant just TIG them together.
steel to stainless steel is doable. but not steel and aluminum.
here is a link to them, they can send you some info on brazing aluminum to other metals.

summer is here, plant a tree. if you don't have space or time to plant one sponsor some one else to plant one for you. a tree is an investment in our planet, help it out.

Some 20+ years a go I preformed a test procedure for the Government and a university.
It joined 6061 t6 aluminum to a36 mild steel.
It took some dozen or more steps alloying each material with fillers until I had two similar enough materials to join.
It was an all GTAW process preformed in an inert gas chamber.TJ______________________________________

welding aluminum and stainless steel together
It is posible to weld the two metals together. you use the same process that the makers of fancy frying pan makers do. its called explosive welding. two diffent types of metal are joined together under a controled explosion. it generates preasures of about one million psi to fuse the materials together. i wouldn't recomend trying this at home...try your neighbor's house instead...lots of info about it on the web..

Moreover, Aluminum likes AC, but Steel likes DC.
