i am in the process of machining four steel bosses to be welded to a used but in very good condition excavator bucket. The pin size is 2.50 inches in diameter and each pin (two) will rotate in two of the new bosses "with grease". What should be the final running clearance ? I expect to bore ,weld ,then line ream. Thanks for any help. MrH

Typically you're shooting for 2-3 thou per inch clearance, so you would be lookin at 6-10 thou. On a 2.5" pin I would machine to 2.450" then do the install. Afterwards, line bore to a finished diameter of 2.508" to 2.512" or so.
