I am currently using a MIG and wire feed welder to complete projects on 4x4 vehicles and hunting rigs..... I have a friend who just purchased an AC stick welder and I am wondering what advatages it could have in my hobbies over my current welders.... any help would be appreciated.

Mig compared to stick welding
One of the biggest advantages of using a stick welder would be the condition of the material being welded. You can burn through rust and grease with the stick welder without having to clean the medal. There are times when cleaning is not an option. Not to thrilled about using an AC welding outfit but there are other beneifits such as being outside and not having any innershield wire to use. Also you can weld with different rods such as hard surfacing rods and only buy them by the pound as needed instead having to buy an entire spool of wire.
