I was given a Miller Cricket from my brother in excellent condition. The problem I am having is buying a spool of wire for it. The Cricket has a large diameter hub but all 1 - 2lb spools in the stores fit a small diameter hub. There seems to be no option on the Cricket to change to a smaller diameter. The only spools that will fit are the large spools and I don't do enough welding to justify a spool that size.
Does enyone have any ideas or has run into this problem?
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Have you considered buying a 8" roll of wire on flea bay?
You can buy a single 8" roll of .030 mig wire for around $22 to 25.00 shipped to your house. I doubt you'll be saving much money by buying the smaller 1-2 lb rolls. Just make sure you take the wire out and store it inside the house to keep it from rusting if you're not going to be using for a long time.

I guess that's not too bad an idea. Pound for pound the 8" is probably cheaper in the long run.
Thanks for the tip.

it is cheaper to get the larger spool. i was thinking you could get an old 8" spool and rewind but that would not work out so well, liable to bind up a lot.
first time i got a 8" spool for my MM135 i fell in love, hate changing role's
. now its always got wire when i need it.
if it sits too long and gets a little surface rust i just run off about 20ft and its good to go again.
welcome to the site.
thanks for the help
