    Default Caterpillar trackframe project

    Project I worked on today. Thought you guys could be interested seeing a few pics.

    A few more. I have some modification and processor head attachment I did on a 324 loader if you guys are interested to see I'll post them later.

    what was the problem you were fixin on the track frame? picsof your other work would be great. Tom

    It's an add on for reinforcement. It's a new equipment and this was customer request. I have to put top cylinder guards and blade stop as well.

    Looks great ,one question what is the idea of your beads running off a inch or so on each piece????

    It's feathering your end welds, it srpeads the stress point. You have to do that for diamond shape fishplate as well. If you have to weld a block in the middle of a boom side, you'd have to weld only on the 2 opposite sides and feather in the block and weld the side and feather out. I'ts a good habit to take.
    If you dont do this, most likely a crack will start from any corner of any welds on the face of a plate.

    Actually ,if you look at the 3rd picture in the second post it makes it look like a caterpillar!
