Can anyone suggest some guidelines, or give some links to guidelines, for designing with treadplate? What I have in mind is a flooring application. I am interested in thicknesses and support spacing for various loading profiles.
I think I would be more interested in steel, but info on aluminum would also be helpful.
Thanks.

check out www.aisc.org. They have design tools available. I don't know if there's anything specific to treadplate...

Any more thoughts? I have been all over the internet looking for design guidelines but haven't found much... certainly not enough to give much guidance for planning and design purposes.
A specific question: How about 1/8" steel tread plate supported on a two foot span. How much weight do you think it could safely bear? What about 3/16" inch aluminum?
