Dirt Bike Fork Drip Stand

If you are like me and have a few bikes one job that comes up often is replacing fork seals.
When you have done this a few times you realise the problem with handling the oil dripping tubes and springs.
The other problem is if you lay them down on the bench there is no room for anything else.

Well today I decided to make a fork dripping stand from a few ali parts.
The problem is clamping two angles together back to back while keeping them at the right angles. Clamp and tack all round.

Very difficult to clamp and keep correct position.
But with a little time it should work out.

Now to make the base.
I cut up some rectangleular hollow sections and tacked them together.
The problem is keeping them level so they don't rotate while applying the heat during welding.

Next weld the two sections together and the stand is all but done.

I rounded all the corners, sanded and gave it a quick polish, just for the photos.

Time for a test fit.
These are some CZ380 1973 forks enjoying the new drip stand.
So far so good.

A full service test.
Today I had to strip down these forks for repair.
As can be seen in the attached image the stand is doing well.
