Thanks for the replies... I learn something "New" everyday... Or TRY to...
I was raised using Open End, Box End, and Combination Wrench as the accepted Terminology... And use "Spanner" Wrenches when rebuilding Ford 9" Removable Carrier Differentials, or Hydraulic Cylinders, etc, etc...

Actually it is just a general term, we call them a wrench, they call them a spanner.
It is actually a British term:

They carry the spanners in the bonnet of their car in case they need to make a roadside repair.
