Vintage motocross bikes pre 85 and older had very small foot pegs. These small pegs offered little grip in the wet and have evolved over the years to the large ones of today.
To bring these pegs up to date you can purchase large new ones if someone is manufacturing them for the bike you have, if not you can improve the existing ones by welding wideners on. There are some companies that manufacture wideners which can be purchased and welded on. I decided to make a set for one of my bikes and this is how I did it. This is not the only way to make them and this whole thread can be concided as entertainment by those that all ready know all there is is know.
First I purchased some 20 x 3mm stainless steel plate.
I then marked it up and started drilling out the holes required to make the serrated pattern I like.

Then I used a band saw to cut the profile of the serrated teeth.

Once the cutting is all done I used a file to finish off the profile.
Then I placed the plate into a bar bender.

Hey presto I made a foot peg widener.
I have to cut to length and then bend the other one.

With both profiled and bent they are now ready to be welded onto the existing foot pegs.
