Uho,
Yeah. If you haven't figured it out, I was pulling his leg a bit.
Nothing wrong with bondo if used properly. I first used it in the 60's with a Corvette I had. Little hard to use lead on fiberglas.
Problem with bondo is that so many people use it wrong. Use it as a "crutch" to get around poor bodywork.
This new hi-strength steel used today, I'm sure, would throw me a curve. I was taught how to use a torch and wet rag to shrink metal by my uncle more years ago than I care to think about. I'm sure it wouldn't work with todays materials.Syncrowave 250 DX Tigrunner

It still works ..Just a little more temperamental than the older stuff......I did some lead work recently on a 70 nova hood that I welded a cowl scoop on.........lemme tell yuh the hood took the heat no problem, the aftermarket scoop on the other hand wanted to walk all over.....had to refine my method a wee bit but it worked out ok.. when i did that 65 gto conv resto, i replaced the hood due to rust in the nose..
i took my zip wheel and cut out the old 65 scoop section and sold it on ebay for 150.00 and trashed the rest of the hood.
5-6 people wanted it too!
just the scoop part with 2in of meat going around it.
crazy, huh?Anything you could do, I could do better.

That scoop means the difference between a Lemans hood and a gto hood.......both of which are getting harder to find clean rust free examples of. I'm a big fan of saving stuff like that myself.........that's why I've got a pole building filled to the gills with crap I'll probably never use or need.......till right after iI get rid of it lol Jim

i always spray primer on bondo at the end of the day so water doesnt soak into it.
i sanded that back off,, used a thin bondo to bondo the bondo and a powered guide coat,, again sanded off by hand.
now its ready for the primer and ill blend the paints together on that panel, after that, i clear coat the entire panel.
