On a standard 15 amp breaker? Doubt it.

Anyway, I have a new Maxstar 150 STH. I love it for tig welding and stick. Welds very nice and the portability can't be beat. I never do aluminum, so AC is not important to me. The air cooled 17 torch never really gets too hot to handle.

Yeah I used my Dynasty 200DX with the WP17 air cooled torch at 200 amps AC for 12 feet of weld, only stopping to reposition and had no problems.
That was on 220v by the way.
It's an awesome SMAW, and GTAW machine, for it's size and weight it can't be beat.

to me it sounds like your discoloration is from too much heat input. your weld and heat affected zone should never turn black. that's called carbide pecipitation and it isn't good at all. try making smaller passes or pick up your travel speed. there is a product called wonder gel that is made by bradford derustit that will remove most discoloration. it's a little pricey but works well for me.

Yep, I tig all the time around 140amps hooked up to a standard outlet.
