Last week my son decided to make a new front bumper for the rig, and add some storage space in the process. The frame was made from scrap 4" C channel and then covered with of 1/8" aluminum diamond plate. The toolbox from his old pickup provided the added storage compartment. All of his experience and certifications are in steel fabrication with Stick and MIG. This was his first attempt at aluminum TIG welding, having made only a few coupons for familiarization earlier in the day.
Here are a few pics of the aluminum work (I didn't get any of the steel fabrication). When time allows, it will be dis-assembled and the steel will be sandblasted and painted.
