I've noticed at work that all of us that are doing any tig work are running either 300D's, vantages or 305g's. How come no ones uses a 200? I was told they don't tig very nice but what makes them differrent?

The SA-200's tig fine, the flat out slickest pipe tig welds I've ever laid eyes on have been made with old 200's in a hootch.
The Vantages give you some advantages no pun intended but don't ever discount a slick pipe hand with a 50 year old pipeliner and a well worn tig rig on a 100% xray gig.
And of course in that world there is no such thing as a foot pedal and the welder might be far away from the truck up in a pipe rack on a hanging scaffold.

I second that. I've seen a few guys that did great scratch start tig from 200's and 250D's.
