When I was in the sign bizz we did similar stuff but we usually sand blasted the relief. We used a product called Medex. Its like the MFD but waterproof. Its not easy to find every where but it makes a nice sign, and really nice work table tops. I can't get it here in Pa, I was told I would need to order a full pallet from Ca.
In Az we got it from a billiard table manufacturer. We added what we needed to their order when they would resupply. If you can find a source for Medex, you might want to try it out for the signs you are making. To all who contribute to this board.
My sincere thanks , Pete.
