I have a project that needs to be made from angle iron and expanded metal.
I need to make a box that is 80" X 18" X 18" with a lid that hinges open to the top with a hasp for locking. The frame needs to be angle iron and then enclosed with flat expanded metal.
My thought was to use 1/8" X 1.5" X 1.5" angle for the frame and 13ga. 1/2" flat expanded metal for the sides, bottom and top.
My biggest problem is the the design of the lid and the surface that it will mates with???
If anyone has pictures or can help with there ideas/ design, I would be thankful.

Why not make the front and two sides of the lid out of angle iron, and the back out of flatbar, where the hinge attaches to. I’d make it where the angle iron used for the lid will lap over the sides.
Caution!
