Wow I have always heard HORRIBLE things about Pennzoil, I will have to dig up the pictures of the sludged up engine that had its oil changed every 3-5000 miles exclusively on Pennzoil.
Mobile 1 or Castrol for me please.

Shell, Quaker State, Pennzoil come from the same company...Bob
In 1998, the company merged with onetime rival Quaker State to form Pennzoil-Quaker State. In 2002, the Royal Dutch/Shell Group purchased Pennzoil-Quaker State to form SOPUS--Shell Oil Products US.Last edited by aametalmaster; 01-20-2010 at 08:21 PM.

I would ask a big WHY too? We use the house brand for gasoline engines, easy to get in the right weight. Back in the day I used barrels but lately its as cheap to use gallons and qts, I buy a case or 2 on occasion from Wally or Sam. Oil is so competitive and constantly improved, back in the day there might be some difference but they all make good stuff now and with even rudimentary service oil brand etc isn't even a factor.

I am sold on any of the synthetic oils, mostly Mobil 1 but any of the synthetics. Especially in all of your air cooled engines or compressors!!!
I have a 96 s10 zr2 4.3 with 199,000 on it and have owned it since new, always used Mobil 1 and only change it every 10,000. I am synthetic all the way now!!

Synthetics.
Yep, synthetics. Even in the diesel work truck.
