I ran derbies for about 17 years and quit about 10 years ago. I ran all over the state of WI for a few years and then just ran local ones for the rest. Typically I ran 74-76 Chevy Impalas, 2 doors, 4 doors and wagons with a few oddballs thrown in there.
Things have changed some since I quit racing. Most of the debies I have watched lately have a couple different classes of cars and those older ones would be in a class by themselves. The newer large cars would run together and then there may be a compact car division also. The compacts are usually 100" wheelbase max and 4 cylinder engines only from what I've seen, lots of Escorts and Cavilers, etc.
I had alot of fun over the years and wrecked alot of cars.

I put a '91 Mercury Topaz in a 4 cylinder class. What a blast! I had as much fun prepping the car as I had driving it. Four cylinder classes are very popular here,(Ontario). We even have some minivan classes. I hurt for week after that demo.

Demo Derby in AZ
I currently do demo derby in AZ. I am also a Administrator on a derby website represents entire world of derby! http://srt.suddenlaunch.com/index.cgi Check it out and become a member! I used to weld in High School but had done any since till I got started in derby'ing. I realized I needed a welder and torch and now I have a very expensive hobby! That is what led me to this site. I have been lurking for a while before joining so I appreciate all the info you guys/gals have been posting. It gives me too many ideas
