Default millermatic 251 fan- when is it supposed to run?

Just got a millermatic 251 (903868) and ran just a few trial beads to make sure its working (welds fine), but the fan did not come on. Is it supposed to run all the time, only when welding, or only when the machine is hot enough to require it to run? hopefully only when hot, as maybe I didn't run it enough for the fan to kick in.....

Only when hot enough. Miller calls it "Fan on Demand".
