    Default "Old Hobie"

hammer: Have you tried to start the engine? That's an old "L" head (flat head) 134, probably with a mechanical distributor, oil bath air cleaner, and no oil filter. May also be a 6V system too.

Parts for the engine are readily available at JC Whitney's or other 4WD Jeep shops. Looks like a pretty basic unit, with + and - terminals on the front.

Not sure what a wiring diagram could do for you, unless you wanted to rebuild the welding generator, but see if it will start, and keep us posted.

    That is a novelty!

Is that a plastic gas can mounted on top? May want to change that to a steel one

    Default Vintage Hobart Owners manuals

I picked up an old Hobart Generator/welder at an auction that looks very similar to yours, but mine is powered by a 2 cylinder Wisconsin. It had no paperwork and I didnt even know what year the machine was. I went to this link https://www.hobartwelders.com/owners...oldmanuals.php

And the gal was able to find the original owners manual for me in the Hobart archives. It says that the cost is $15.00 for this service, but if you ask for the PDF file they will send you it for FREE. =) The owners manual included the wiring diagram as well as the manual for the engine.

I couldnt belive they still had my machine on file somewhere. I asked the gal at Hobart if she could tell me what year my machine was, and she was able to give me the exact date my machine was made! (Feb. 13th 1970)
I printed all the pages out from my PDF file and now have a copy of the Original owners manual.

In 1996 Illinois Tool Works aka Miller purchased Hobart, but the government would not let them purchase machines rated at 250 amps or greater, So if its rated less than 250 amps its a Miller welder now! lol

hope this works for your machine too-
